When I lived in Colo. outside Durango in the 1970s, I guided for the guy that had the job of plowing the pass. In the summer & fall, he ran a fishing & hunting outfit.

About half was between Cortez and Dove Crick, and about 10 miles from the Utah line. If I drive down my road for a mile I can see Monument Valley.

I was up that way one time when my oldest son was playing football for Bayfield HS & they went to Dove Creek for a game.

Bayfield is a big city now and they beat up on all the other schools. Dove Creek is in the 8-man football league like Mancos, Norwood, etc.

I guess back in the 1970s, they played 11-man in DC. Because I sure don't recall Bayfield playing 8-man even before it became a big city.
