Fed Doc, I will give you honest and accurate advice about having your knee replaced. I am 69 and in good general health. Had bad knees for years with my share of the pain that goes along with that condition. Back in 2011, I had my right knee replaced--it was beyond bad. As was mentioned earlier, this is no walk in the ole park. Plenty of pain involved especially if your stomach cannot tolerate the heavy duty pain meds that the doctors will allow you to have. The first 21 days will be a burden but after that you will improve each and every day.....following the advice of your physical therapist is ESSENTIAL to a wonderful recovery and a much better YOU. almost immediately, you will start the therapy and after you get home (about three days) you will start to receive home health therapy and after two or 3 weeks of that you will need to go to a physical therapy clinic for prob three more weeks of the intense therapy.......do everything the professionals tell you to do and will you be a NEW man/person. April 9, 2015 I had my left knee replaced by the same doctor at the same hospital....everything was duplicated and this knee is not quite the same as my first (not quite as good). Every now and then a trace of pain involved but nothing to what my natural left knee was causing me before the surgery. some fellows have both knees replaced at the same time but I would NOT recommend that. Yes, the pain is bad but not UN-bearable and at the 21 day mark you will start to really get better and better. Best thing I ever did for myself was to have my knees replaced. Hunted the past five years in Colorado for cow elk with my old Remington 700 M.L. rifle under my arm supported by two replaced knees. GET it done NOW and you will not regret it.
