I’d agree. Been to the mountains before. Just never hunted them. One track of land I hunt is over 10k acres I know it doesn’t compare. But I’m used to bigger areas.If you've never elk hunted before my advice is the mountains/terrain is 100 times bigger in person than it looks on a map!
Around lone cone can get crowded and the saddles are liable to go over into unit 70 which your tag is not good for. So be sure where you are hunting if you hunt the cone area. Green roads are in 71. The area to north and east with orange roads is unit 70 and land to south and west is private. All public in 71 has the green border around it.
