Hey guys
Looking for some advice for the Mccall Zone A tag short range cow season. Unfortunately, I couldn't capitalize on the opportunity with my bow and missed a couple of bulls this past September. I would like to get a cow in the freezer and the tag isn't valid where I archery hunt and know the elk herds in unit 25. I would imagine the elk in the drainages around Warm Lake head down towards Cascade in unit 24 for the winter? I'm kicking my feet in the sand here looking at maps with all of the roads around where I would expect elk to move towards to migrate. The private property down low also has me concerned. I would appreciate any help as to where the elk tend to be once the snow hits like it did this last weekend. What elevation do they tend to winter? Do they feed at the valley floor and move up to bed? I am heading up there Saturday to scout around all day and look for tracks to give me an idea of where they might be; and to plan a couple of longer trips in the following weeks. I would be willing to share some advice about archery hunting the area in return.
Thanks
Jayden
