ML unit 39 in ID

I was looking at hitting the area of the Pioneer fire burn but can't get any pics of the area. Anyone have any info they'd like to share? This would be my kids first elk hunt so I would like to at least see some game. I noticed the elevation was from 5000-7000 feet and didn't know if they would be down that low for the first part of the sept season. Should I look for higher areas or would that mid elevation be ok? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
