Nevada non resident youth hunting question

How old must one be to start applying for Nevada. If the youth is 12 at the time of the hunt can they apply for the permit?

Just to clarify there are no special youth tags for non resident youth they are just like any other non resident

It gets expensive to buy 2-3 of your teenagers licenses for $142. I think Nevada has a great thing going with the resident youth hunts. I selfishly sure wish they would let non-resident youth put in for these hunts. My kids would be all over it.

The youth hunts are great. But there is a lot of Nevada youths that don't draw. So it definitely would not be fair to allow nonresident youth to put in.

If you want a good low priced youth hunt then check into Idahos Mentor tags. Kids can hunt with an adult that has the same tag for less then $100 for tag and license. Best deal i have seen in a long time!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-19-14 AT 06:23PM (MST)[p]Plus most of the Idaho General youth hunts can be filled with either antler less or antlered

And there are some draw areas as well that don't matter resident or non resident in Idaho for youth

One of the few things Idaho does right

LAST EDITED ON Feb-20-14 AT 10:33PM (MST)[p]The Utah early youth bull hunts are so hard to draw for residents that most kids don't ever draw before they are adults. But the 10% set aside for NRs are pretty easly to draw. Not a ton of folks will take their kids on an elk hunt if they don't have a tag themselves. That hunt was one of the funniest my son ever hunted.

I just wish they had the NM youth elk hunts when he was a junior. I would have been all over those.

Yeah Hevishot, there are a lot of Arizona, new mexico, Utah, Idaho kids that don't draw either, but fortunately these states all go out of their way to include all kids not just residents. The benefit for a state to include kids, is that once they are not youth, they may continue wanting to hunt that particular state. I've always just figured the Nevada fish and game and perhaps residents are a bit near sited on the issue. ie don't see the big picture for the sport. You certainly verified that.
