I've helped on the Pavhant during 06 and 07 ML hunts. I've looked at bulls and talked with several DIY hunters during each hunt, most of the bulls killed (that I know of) run in the 330ish range. This year we talked with some hunters that told us of a bull they were glassing that for sure would go 400, that 7 point was killed the next morning before we got to him ? other hunters said the bull was closer to 320 after he was on the ground. The bull my wife took scores 339 ? I call him 340 just for the hell of it. He busted in on us fast with apx 15 cows, with a heavy back end and not getting a good look at his brows she dumped him. Now, given our life - kids, (my AK Moose hunt) hot weather, bla bla, bla she made a good choice for her and we are both happy with the bull. Seems I counted about 20 bulls she had less than 150 yards during her 4 days of hunting.
In 06 we had 1 380ish, 1 370ish and a few 320+ bulls all talking much of the day ? larger bulls in 06.
I've hunted ML elk many times ? it's a different game than rifle, thus most hunters end up with fine bulls and many close calls, but not many bring home monsters. Last ? I do believe that MOST of the largest bulls 390+ are patterned and dead after the rifle, if that's your target don't go ML
