Sacajawea Campground

I was looking at a Grizzly bear distribution map the other day. Have Grizzlies got as far south as Sacajawea campground west of Big Piney? If so how about down to LaBarge?

They live that far south for sure!

Possibly, but not likely as far as an encounter. I spent a lot of the summer in this area, and spoke to FS and F&G LEOs and bios, and from their standpoint it was a chance, perhaps a younger bear traveling through, but no confirmations. I believe that if there was a better than minimal chance for a run-in the FS would implement a food storage requirement, rather than a recommendation. That being said, I'd hate to be the guy that has a bad close encounter. There's likely a better chance though every year. My 2 cents.
