San Juan/Abajo Mtns Hunt 1551

Has anyone hunted this area for the general season? I'm looking forward to it, but need to do some homework, before I venture out to this new area for me. Any info would be great and best of luck to everyone this season. Thanks!

Yes for many many years. Yes you need to do some homework. Hunt low, fewer deer and fewer people. Not too many deer left up high by the time the rifle hunt rolls around most of the elk have displaced them.

Thanks for the info. It's going to be a tuff time getting the logistics done to scout out the area before the season starts. I'm contemplating using a guide this year for the area, just because I can't make a few trips to scout it out. I believe most of the land there is USFS or BLM. Did you take some descent bucks out of there?
