Hey all,
Going again to ID for the 6th year in a row to chase those elk around. That's the good news. The bad news is we're having to hunt in a different area due to fires and such. Our units are the Sawtooth's, 33,34,35,36. We plan on hunting mainly the north part of 36 towards the Frank Church. We have made two trips from AZ up there for scouting, but so much to cover without living locally.
Here's were I need help. I'll go into some detail for those that know the area. Leaving Stanley and going North West on HWY 21 for about 9 miles, there is a road on your right that crosses the river. This is also the same road on your left that goes to Stanley Lake. Head back up that road (don't know the number) for some miles. A landmark back there is an old two story cabin on the left if heading in. Continue pass the house for a few more miles. This is where we have very limited ideas of where to hunt. Would anybody mind lending a leg up of maybe where to think about starting? We will be rifle hunting middle of October. Also for what it worth, I typically hunt alone and usually pack in 4-5 miles from roads, set up a camp and then hunt 2-3 miles around that, so I'm not afraid of walking.
Thanks all for helping out, although I'm a newbie here.
Take care,
Robert
