My thoughts exactSay what? Procrastinators crash the site again?
You will never get a tag again in your life... are you insane or what ???NMG&F is located in Santa Fe …..liberals full of #@&$. This doesn’t surprise me. That’s probably the best excuse they could come up with.
You just might be right ???No need to worry about your draw odds tanking fellas. I’ve been reading about a mass migration of hunters leaving the state. In a few short years those of us stupid enough to remain will draw every tag we apply for……even if they extend the draw deadline a whole day.
Just had this conversation with a buddy. I agree!i Have a feeling draw numbers where down so they made one last push . Just my 2cents
Well no , but good theory. The state server was down for 4 hours and 10 minutes , and those customers trying to access their accounts for many reasons , draw apps , fishing licenses , military documents , mobility impaired documents, but mostly applicants etc were not able too. Dept. management had to make the decision. As unpopular as it was, the departments customers ( you all) should have a operating system whether you entered the draw on January 18th or if they waited until March 22. The server went down not allowing them access. Many are upset as expected but for those who were locked out , well now they have the opportunity to get in.i Have a feeling draw numbers where down so they made one last push . Just my 2cents
NAILED IT !!! Had zero to do with last minute applicants ...Sorry, I just don’t think the deadline extension is a big deal.
I don’t think that most people that overloaded the system yesterday did so because they were too drunk, stoned or incarcerated to apply earlier.
Some forgot, and that doesn’t deserve a 2nd chance!!
I bet most people trying to apply yesterday did so bc they didn’t want to be out of the app fees for months…..I do think that’s a legit reason to submit a late app (admittedly, if I was in that boat I wouldn’t have waited until the last day).
Oh yeah, and GF should have a functioning system until the deadline. WHAT IF someone had planned for months to submit their app on 3/22, for whatever reason, because that’s what was published in the regs. They got screwed……thus a single day extension is valid.
Some of you bitchin right now will have a great draw, and should be grateful the cards fell as they did. Some may get a potential fortune overturned……it’s all a roll of the dice.
Oh, and some will bitchin that they NEVER draw tags when their 3 elk hunt choices were all in the caldera, can’t wait to hear that stupid s*** again.

He needs to delete the app and re-create. Needs to be done by 5 PM today. After 5 he can still delete the app but won't be able to recreate.Anyone know if you can change an app once it's submitted? Just talking to a friend that put in as a group and his group "friend" backed out after my friend applied so he was wanting to change the units he applied for. He's looking into it but thought I'd ask here in case someone knows and doesn't slam me for not looking in the regs.
correctThanks!!! from what I see it would only cost him the $13 app. fee which is non-refundable.
An old lifelong NM rancher told me this several years ago before he passed away.Yeah, if the state allows you to keep the privilege to hunt the way it currently is...
So all you guys vacating NM are going to really screw up the NR draw odds. Maybe we need a ruling where residents can not apply as a NR for 10 years after they leave NM. ?????

The NM Game & Fish Regulations are a lot of good suggestions.
I think you can figure out what he meant by that statement in relation to the State changing his hunting opportunities.
Obviously, everyone can't have that attitude but it was comical hearing a 90 yo man's opinion on the State limiting his hunting habits.
Good for you ????Had a buddy draw the 1 in 4,500 odds guided MT mule deer hunt given away by HF yesterday so it inspired me to tack on the works, including sheep & exotics, in New Mexico with 20 minutes left in extended deadline. ? Like that will change anything.
All unrealistic except for one muzzleloader deer hunt (27%) that overlaps nice with my WY gen. I’m very familiar with the unit too. Now just need a tiny smidge of luck, for which I am well overdue. Ten years worth.
The past few years the deadline has fallen on my birthday...March 22ndI guess the extra week extension added to this year deadline wasn't enough. The past several years the deadline has been on the 3rd Wednesday of March. This year it fell on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Every year since they started pushing people to apply through FB they have been having record breaking app numbers. My inside scoop said they set a new record high in apps!! Draw odds shrink a little more

I agree with you except for when it comes to a point system. Look at what it takes for a Colorado resident to even be in the arena to compete for a moose tag. I’d rather apply every year than to spend the next ten years buying points for an elk tag, 20 years for a pronghorn, etc. right now I draw elk at least once every three years, that will end with a point system. The point system works in Colorado because they have a lot more animals than we do. Hell talk to anyone that lives in a point System state and see what they have to say about point creep...and they celebrate it as though it's some kind of victory. Having no point system is a double edge sword. It makes it to where anybody can jump in without having to "pay the price" of not playing the game early on.
But it's a non-issue, the same number of tags will be given to the same amount of people. Their benefit is from more dollars scored on app fees.

That is a valid point, and definitely some truth to that. Considering that so many people need FB to remind them to apply or they don’t know how to find the online publications, I’m sure adding the purchase of a point just might be a bridge too far for them. I think making hunter safety mandatory in order to apply would help a lot. I thought hunter safety was beneficial and some people need lessons on etiquette and ethics while hunting.I agree. The no point system is why there is an increase in apps every year. Nobody is penalized for entering late or skipping a year or two and jumping back in.
Cant express enough how important it is that a first year appliclant has the same odds to draw a tag as the rest of us. There is no “ earning your dues to go hunting”. Preference point systems will kill our sport to where only a small # of people will be applying. Most folks who have 15 points in one state have just as many in other states, meaning it the same “handful” of people playing the game. We must bring newbie’s in to keep us supported. The hunting public is less than 5% of nation’s population.
More apps suck for us in short run but good thing in big picture, hope we never go preference points
