Unit 54

Anyone down in the Gunnison area be willing to update us on the amount of snow in the mountains yet? Have a tag for Unit 54 Nov. 3rd opener and wondering what if any snow has fallen.

Here is a link to weather at Gothic, CO. Gothic is a few miles north of Crested Butte. It's a pretty good site and may be near enough to your location to be of some use. It is in the south end of unit 55.

FYI Gothic is not in the south end of unit 55.
Unit 55 goes all the way to Gunnison.

The high country has about 8 inches of snow. A lot of deer are in the transition zones and by third season you should be golden. I'll be taking my wife out in the morning
(unit 54 mule deer). This will be her first hunt ever!

Yup, You're right. How about Gothic is just north of the north edge of 54?

Ought to still be useful info for someone who can't just look out the window.

You're absolutely correct. I was just clearing up the discrepency.

Just got back. Tough hunting during the second season. Not much snow left below 10,000 ft. Most of the bucks were above 9700 ft. in the thick stuff, hard to hunt with the crunchy snow conditions.
