Unit 61 Elk

I plan to move from New Mexico to the Montrose area next year and have been studying the CO hunts. What makes 61 so much more desirable than all of the surrounding units? I have been up a couple of times in the last month and have seen a lot of elk all around the area and thought someone could answer this question.

I am happy to offer any info I have on NM hunting.

62 is very similar but unlimited archery, 2nd and 3rd season elk tags. Is a great example of what reduced tags do for an area.

Slayer hit it on the head. Look at the difference in deer tag numbers. Over the counter elk is always a pumpkin fest.
