Unit 70 Controlled Elk Help

My buddy drew a early season tag for 70 this year. He would like to hunt as close to home(Malad) as possible. We have not been able to get into the elk very heavy this year. We have a couple of spots picked out, but wondering if anyone would be willing to help with any additional areas to look at around Malad. Thanks in advance.

So how have the first few days gone? I have a tag for the later rifle hunt in 70. I have had a similar experience scouting. No bugles and haven't sighted any after being out a bunch over the last month. Bunches of moose though.
