This was my first year using a muzzleloader for deer, and I had a great time and killed a nice buck. I am contemplating buying one of the general spike muzzleloader permits, but unsure whether it would be worth my time.
I have only hunted elk with a bow, and have limited knowledge of hunting elk post rut. Has anyone ever been out on the general muzzleloader spike hunt? Will it be next to impossible to find a spike after they have been chased for more than two months? Any thoughts or experience are appreciated. I haven't even decided which unit I would choose to hunt, I'm just itching to be out hunting again.
