Only a day and a half in and we aren’t seein much in the normal late areas… weird year. Open to any tips anyone has. My 68 year old uncle has the tag.

I think this is a very common theme this year. People need to be adaptable or they will not be successful.

Yeah, it’s going to be a tough one. He can hike a bit, horses, SXS, etc.

Rough year for Elk just about everywhere from what I've seen, and heard. Have you guys checked the south end of the unit? Some good steep timber country near the Avint campground that gets overlooked.

This late season stuff is tough!
When you're in them, you're up to ypur eyeballs in them, when not, it's a ghost town.

We saw close to 30 bulls on Friday, went right back in on Saturday and Sunday and struggled to find even a few dinks.
It's almost like they knew!

I had a ML tag this year. Leading up, everyone told me to get away from the roads and people and you will have success. I did just that and saw elk every day- and was successful. Did I shoot a 400" bull? No. Did I expect to? No. I just wanted a decent representative bull and my 6 pt filled that ticket. Find unpressured areas and you will have success. If no elk there, move, don't waste time with "they used to be here" spots. Elk are where you find them.
