where to start

i drew a general season region h deer tag with my dad we are from louisiana and don't know where to start. we aren't trophy hunters and would be thrilled with a average buck. should we rent horses or just backpack in and hunt . i was wondering if anyone knew of a trailhead we could start out at and hike in without killing ourselves with a straight up vertical climb. we are experienced hunters but not in wyoming. thanks

Double check any wilderness boundary in the unit you decide on.

Be sure to get out here a few days before the hunt to acclimate yourselves to the altitude. Altitude sickness can ruin a hunt.

You shouldn't have trouble finding deer.

How thick are the Griz's throughout the region? Are they more up north of it as opposed to the southern portion of the region?
