Hello,
My son drew the youth any bull tag for sept 14-22. I had done a lot of online scouting and talked to biologist before heading scouting this weekend in the South Slope and North Slope units. South Slope we checked out the red cloud loop area and was pretty blown away by the amount of people and ATVs running around combined with how thick it is. Coming from Eastern Washington where most of it is spot and stock this will be challenging. We were able to get a few return bugles but the elk were pushed into pretty good holes this weekend. Is it always such a zoo or was that mostly because of the holiday weekend??
I am still trying to figure out the right plan and open to any information anyone can provide. We will be there in the 13th to setup camp and scout and are able to hunt the whole season. Are there other units people would recommend as a backup or even primary that are a little more spot and stick?
Thanks
Josh
