Pay a rancher for access. Once in a lifetime tag. Is worth it. If you do want to try and float pay for access to put in lower. You might have to walk it through riffles but it might be doable for a short distance

You know, I used to feel the same way about non residents... once I started hunting several other states i realized that true hunters are good folks no matter where you are. You will still have slob yahoos driving around not making a great impression no matter here you are but true hunters...

Great post ElkDud. That's the kind of info that's very helpful without giving spots away. A lot of us will ask about units not expecting a hunting spot but more about what to expect. I for one just don't always know the questions to ask

Deer around Bend are getting desperate. They are having to bed down where someone has plowed as they cant get around in 3 foot of snow. second from left is nice 5 pt but hard to see against dark background

There are a ton of bears in that unit but as a non res I just cant see paying as much as a bull tag.to hunt bear. If they were priced like the cow tag. I might think about it

Good feedback in these posts. As a Non resident without much experience in Wyoming i am often asking questions. Answers like these are very helpful in giving a place to start looking without giving up someones favorite unit or a spot. A lot of the time, we dont always know the right way to ask...

75percent completely based on preference points 25 percent completely random. I actually think its a great system . Best of both worlds. Points will gtee a tag eventually but there is always the lucky chance. I had the second season tag. Saw very few elk and no bulls.

On the road east of town there is sign on the road to the north about fishing access or sportsmans access. Any place to camp right there. Planning on stoppi g for a soap and want a place to throw up a tent
