    >Dan, > >Where is the pic of the >dead buff? Exactly, right? I haven't seen any of it. He had it down, off the mountain, capped and off to the taxidermist before I even knew what was going on... so that's why we went back down and spent 2 days looking at deer. :) I'm waiting for pictures...

    Henry Mountain Questions

So, just got back last night from the Henrys spending time with my buddy on his bison hunt and then looking at big deer. Been doing the November deer trip for several years and this is the first time in mid November that I've been camped at McMillan Springs and had the day time temps in the 50s...

    Henry managenment tag

Just got back from 2 days on the Henrys helping a friend with his bison tag. There are more people looking at deer running around there than bison hunters. Saw 1 very nice buck in the 2 days, about a zillion does. Last night saw my 2nd buck, a halfway decent 3x4 with barely a 4th on the one...

NOV-RAC/Board meeting- Big game changes 2014

Many years ago... can't remember how many but it was a lot, I was young back then. :) They ran a set of 3point or bigger hunts and I thought it was shown to be a negative because of the affect on the gene pool and such. sled_guy >I would like to see a >3 point or bigger rule >implemented on...

    Utah hunt changes (youth)

I like it... if the adult has to be with the youth hunter. I see it as my boy and I are sitting on a ridge and a deer comes out and I hand him my gun and he shoots it. I may or may not have experienced that sort of thing with my dad when I was a kid. sled_guy

    Elk on the deer hunt

Took my 2 oldest on the deer opening. Saw some deer, but the excitement for the day was having this big boy run up to within 10 yards of us. He had been running for a while, tongue hanging out. Came across the ridge and ran right down the draw to us. Told my kids to stand perfectly still and...

    He's Back!! Monster 5x5

When I drew my tag out on the Deep Creek we had a 5x5 that myself and several other hunters kept seeing. He was like this one, just huge with lots of mass. I spoke with a guy that was "haunted" by it, kept telling me he should probably shoot it, he really liked it and so on and so forth...

    BBD, now what?

When I got my big bull a few years ago I went to Cabellas and Sportsmans and a couple of other sporting goods stores and walked around and looked at all the mounts they had on the walls. I found the couple I liked, took a digital photo, and then discussed it with my taxidermist before making my...

    General Rifle Bulls

jarheadhunter, that bull of your grandpa's is dang impressive for a general tag. My 2 neighbors rolled in last night, they both got 5x5s on Monday. Talked to a group of 3 hunters (dads of kids on my son's baseball team). They hunted Chalk Creek area for spikes and saw nothing but big bulls...

    Rainy Elk

Saturday afternoon my boy and I got chased off the mountain up Logan Canyon by a nasty lightening storm. We were sitting on a ridge watching it roll in and then the lightening started... we bee-lined it off the hill fast. Sunday morning it was fogged in, like 50 yard visibility. But the bulls...

If you have a webcam in the Sinks

I didn't mean to imply that I had an issue with the camera owner. I think there is plenty of hunting area and just didn't want to blow him out if he was planning on sitting on that water hole Saturday morning. sled_guy

If you have a webcam in the Sinks

Ok, there is a pond up in the South Cache area, off the Sinks road on the north end, on a little pond. Has 2 tree stands on one end and one tree stand on the other end. I'm not going to give the exact location. I know this is a long shot, but if you or anyone you know owns this webcam (or...

    Elk grunt, what to do

So I was up scouting over the weekend and walked down through a pine draw. I cow called and got a bull to respond with nothing more than a grunt. I could cow call, he would just give off a grunt sound. Never bugled, never changed. I had other cows in the area also talking but he wouldn't...

Book Cliffs Roadless archery - early or late????

Uh... go NOW. The bulls have been active on the Books this past week. Friend was down there on the opening and the elk were herding up and the bulls were talking. He got eyes on a dozen different bulls without even doing much hiking. Ask a buddy to go with you and head down there. sled_guy

Spent the weekend on the Cache South area wandering around. It rained hard up in the Sinks on Friday night. Saturday I crossed fresh tracks, but no bull or cow talking in the Peter Sink area where I was. Still pretty quiet. sled_guy

Todd... I didn't know when the fire started, just that it was Saturday some time. No, we weren't there that late... we were their in the late afternoon and evening. But middle of the night with a spotlight isn't a bad approach I guess. ;) sled_guy

Millville fire and Cache South elk

So Saturday took a drive up Providence canyon. Road turned us around above the gravel pit as I didn't want to beat the truck up. We looped down and went all the way up Millville Canyon. Part way up I mentioned to my brother that I thought we might get rain. We went all the way up on top and...

    South Cache LE Bull hunters

    Back Door for Utah Draws!!

It's just data. I'm sure we'll hear some excuse about how all the people checking their points was causing the system to be loaded too much. I've been in the IT business for almost 30 years now... it's easy for people to "blame the computer". sled_guy

    $$$

And like any other merchant, they can price that fee in... in fact they have an easier time of pricing that in because they are a near monopoly on hunting in Colorado. Also by accepting apps online they save money because they don't have to hire someone to key in all the info to put a paper...
