First and foremost I would like to thank the members of this site that responded and gave me good advice, it was invaluable and gave me a place to start my scouting.
I arrived 4 days before the season to try and scout as much as I could before I made a decision on where to hunt. During these 4 days I saw a lot better bucks than when I was down in late July. I decided on an area that had good deer and no pressure from other hunters. I was able to make stalks every day I was there on some really good deer but just couldn't close the deal on any of them. I had several people tell me before the season that I would have a hard time hunting by myself ( I was having a hard time believing them) but after hunting and having several bucks in the 170-180 class get up and move on me when I was stalking in I know why they were telling me that. On day 4 I found this buck and 12 others bedded in a draw, I was able to drive past them and make my stalk down into the draw but was only able to get to within 90 yards. They finally got up and started feeding uphill towards me and when they got within 40 yards I was able to draw my bow and stand up and make my shot. He isn't the biggest buck I saw but I am extremely happy with him as he is the largest buck I have killed with my bow.
