Be aware, HUGE drop of deer and elk numbers the last two years. Just a heads up. Prediction collar study was 81% loss on collared game. Plus wild horses and Buff causing problems on winter grounds. Not good

Yes sir, that's point creep! And It's worse in the general season and antlerless draws. Preference points. 100% of the permits go to to top tier of point holders. The LE/OIAL are split to a 50/50 draw. Half the permits are random.

Nothing even CLOSE to what it used to be! I was shocked at both deer and elk numbers in the Bookcliffs compared to past years. WAY DOWN. I loved the Cliffs. I had ab elk tag there in1992. Spent many years after that out there thru 2010. It was awesome. Not so much any more, sadly.

These fly counts are to help determine overall herd size. Buck to doe classification are done in Nov/Dec during the rut.

If I see them. I'm going to talk to them. I'll see what I can find out on other units.

100% correct^^^^^^^^ I spent those year's in the Bookcliffs during the winter months hunting lions. It was fun watching the deer rebound! Was there for the 1999 deer opener. It was unbelievable! Easily the best year ever there for BOTH quality and overall deer numbers.

Many of the bucks have already dropped their antlers. Some of the bigger bucks have been off for more than a week now. I've seen smaller bucks the last 3 days in a row only packin 1 side.

I had a long, interesting conversation with the DWR on the mountain Sunday. One of the things I learned was they will be conducting fly counts of deer and elk begining soon depending on weather. I will have an eye on the sky. I know Nebo and Manti are on the list. I'd say good news!

Your right. Winter range and summer habitat is in so poor shape because of the wild horses and Buff! Wouldn't make a difference.

The Bookcliffs is in REALLY ruff shape right now for both deer and elk.... Vernon is probably slightly better. I'd go that route if forced to choose.
