Thank you for the reply's so far. I live a bit away from the unit so I know I have lots of research to do. It sounds like a backpacking hunt is probably the way to go. Are the access issues do to public being landlocked, and
I am hoping to avoid any issues with the illegal trafficking...
I was surprised to find out that I drew a nonresident New Mexico unit 27 coues deer tag for late November. I have never hunted coues deer and never hunted New Mexico, so i'm sure it will be an adventure. I am really excited for the opportunity, but not exactly sure what to expect for this hunt...

My dad and I were lucky and drew Wyoming deer tags for unit 90. We had been building points for a while , but he is 64 and not able to do the back country pack in style of hunt like region G. I think it will be a great chance to get out there and spend dome quality time with my dad. We decided...
LAST EDITED ON May-02-17 AT 09:55PM (MST)[p]My dad and I were finally able to finish one of our own projects. This is my 2015 elk. I think it turned out great.
My dad has a pending charge on his card for a Newfoundland sheep tag. We have never hunted sheep before. His hunt will be the second season. We have not been out there before so it will be an adventure. We are pretty excited and any advise on this hunt would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Curt
Nevadahunter I was thinking of looking into the peaks area because it was higher elevation and I figured there might be a few deer there, but I will have to check out the other area as well. Does the peaks area get a lot of deer hunters or mainly elk hunters?
Sorry for the loss of your brother. I believe that mountain range is on the northern portion of the unit. I will have to check it out. Thanks for your advise.
I am looking for some general advise on this unit for deer. I put in for deer on this unit as I expected to draw a LE elk tag with my points, and I hoped to be able to hunt both while I was there. I was surprised when I drew the deer without points, but missed out on the elk tag. I see that it...

Goats are a lot of fun to hunt. My family has been fortunate enough to have drawn three goat tags over the years and took some nice billy's with our bows. One thing you may look at is that the DWR is possibly implementing a harvest objective option for the bear hunts in the next year or two...
Thanks for all the reply's so far. I hope there are still a few nice deer for us to chase around. Are there any area's up that way that would be bowhunter friendly if we were to try rattling and calling?

Me and my dad are planning a Montana whitetail deer/Bird hunt in North eastern Montana. I am curious to know how the deer and upland birds faired with this last winter. I heard that it was a rough winter for Montana all around but I am curious about numbers and what to expect. This is our first...
I shot an antelope years ago that also had a horn on the bridge of his nose. It was less pronounced than that picture but I have seen it. The horn on my goat was approximatly an inch long and about a quarter inch in hieght. I also have seen a few goats that we have done the taxidermy on with...
