Hunted just south of Chico yesterday, killed 5 specs, guys said most of the birds headed back north, said they lost 1 million birds over the last couple weeks, went from shooting 50 a day to 1/2 dozen.

It's been horrible, parked the jet boat for the year, zero mallards. Been hunting the Snake for 35 years, worst year.

I've hunted 39 for over 10 years. To be honest, there's actually more deer. 2018-2019 we saw a few less deer.

I spoke with F&G, they are changing Vendors. Price's will increase for NR, and OTC zone/areas will have quota's for NR. F&G feels that some Nonresidents will stop coming to Idaho if they can't get a certain zone/tag because they are sold out, so the increase in tags will offset fewer NR coming...

Grew up north of there, it's gotten really busy....The archery elk zone is popular. I have a hard time driving through there on the weekends and keeping a smile on my face, guess everyone has discovered what I've always enjoyed. Deer hunting is tough, elk hunting is so so...good luck!

Second vote for Westside....get some!! Pure Idaho native here, I've never left, and never will, Idaho is to great of a State. NR moving in want the same that we cherish...to be honest, I can't blame them. I live around a lot of Californians that have moved up here, they are all GOOD people...

We live close to Idaho City, I'm tired of plowing, driveway is closed in.....126" on Morris Creek summit, hope the animals made out alive! Brundage Mtn. outside of McCall received a record 132" of snow in February.....yikes... We are having a big winter!!

Others are spot on, antlers are smaller, country is rugged, game density is low...you can hike through miles of good country without finding tracks....but you only need one buck/bull...my best hunting memories are there. Hunt the breaks.. good luck

Typically the farther north you go the thicker the bears are. I think someone mentioned some Outfitters on the main Salmon, I would agree. Sheep Ranch, Mackay Bar etc., plenty of bears and some of the most rugged country in the lower 48, it's really a place to see once in your life time. We...

Tons of good options. The closer to big populations the more people you will bump into. Check out F&G for unit populations etc., this can get you started in the right direction. You can PM when you choose an area, I don't know about every unit, but I can typically help...

It's looking good so far, current weather pattern should hold through the end of the Month. There are fewer deer this year. And, yes this is a much different winter than last year, I would be surprised if it turned for the worse....

Unit 36 is ok, used to be better. Just like with anything else....work=success, will take a bunch of scouting to locate the elk.. just my 2 cents....

What a bunch of BS, I don't know why people do this.

I glassed far fewer forked horns this year, saw a few, and it seemed like the fawns were fewer this year as well. Never turned up anything mature, which was a change from the years past. I read articles stating that the young deer died as well as some of the older deer, my observations line up...

I've always thought that the peak of the rut was a little earlier in Idaho than the States to the south, which makes sense. I typically the most rutting activity the 1st 2 weeks of November.
