    Yeah, you are correct.

    Colorado Wolves

I can and do appreciate your stance on the issue, and yes it is a very concerning issue. I do not and did not support the reintroduction. Hopefully people on both sides of the issue can find some common ground.

    Colorado Wolves

Going to chime in here, life long native resident of Idaho, I hunted prior to 1995 when wolves were reintroduced and after in central wilderness units in Idaho. Have wolves had an impact, no doubt, did it completely destroy Idaho's deer and elk populations, no! My Family was on the "they will...

    That's a wrap for 2020 waterfowl

Hunted just south of Chico yesterday, killed 5 specs, guys said most of the birds headed back north, said they lost 1 million birds over the last couple weeks, went from shooting 50 a day to 1/2 dozen.

    That's a wrap for 2020 waterfowl

It's been horrible, parked the jet boat for the year, zero mallards. Been hunting the Snake for 35 years, worst year.

    Diamond creek elk

I've hunted 39 for over 10 years. To be honest, there's actually more deer. 2018-2019 we saw a few less deer.

    Diamond creek elk

I spoke with F&G, they are changing Vendors. Price's will increase for NR, and OTC zone/areas will have quota's for NR. F&G feels that some Nonresidents will stop coming to Idaho if they can't get a certain zone/tag because they are sold out, so the increase in tags will offset fewer NR coming...

Anybody with a glass half full?

I'm half full, still see lots of deer etc., but I do think it could be better. I'm with elks96, I really do believe the massive increase in predators is playing the major roll. As long as the States continue to take away hunting opportunities for predators, it will get worse. Back in the day...

Idaho Fish And Game....there is a fight coming

Not to get in a big internet battle and I'm not an expert in biology or forestry, but I've been hunting the same unit for 10 years now, one of the heaviest hunted in the state. Saw as many deer this year as I've seen in the past, lots of young bucks that need a couple more years, lots of doe's...

    Beaver Unit Deer Herd

I've never hunted any of the units in Utah, I don't know if I've even driven through this one. But this is a common thread across the West. Two things have changed since the big mule deer boom of 60's-70's. We have WAY more elk, and WAY WAY WAY more predators, big cats, and coyotes, and...

    Meat processing in Boise Metro?

Custom Butcher does a good job. If you're expecting a smile and a warm welcome, go somewhere else. My meat always comes out great.

    Unit 24 Cascade area

Grew up north of there, it's gotten really busy....The archery elk zone is popular. I have a hard time driving through there on the weekends and keeping a smile on my face, guess everyone has discovered what I've always enjoyed. Deer hunting is tough, elk hunting is so so...good luck!

    Holy SNOW

That's enough snow, no concerns for a drought. It's been dumping over a foot each day in the mtns. The elk around our house are holed up on the N facing slopes waiting it out, hope it stops....

    Holy SNOW

We live close to Idaho City, I'm tired of plowing, driveway is closed in.....126" on Morris Creek summit, hope the animals made out alive! Brundage Mtn. outside of McCall received a record 132" of snow in February.....yikes... We are having a big winter!!

    Middle fork late season

Others are spot on, antlers are smaller, country is rugged, game density is low...you can hike through miles of good country without finding tracks....but you only need one buck/bull...my best hunting memories are there. Hunt the breaks.. good luck

    Bear outfitter

Typically the farther north you go the thicker the bears are. I think someone mentioned some Outfitters on the main Salmon, I would agree. Sheep Ranch, Mackay Bar etc., plenty of bears and some of the most rugged country in the lower 48, it's really a place to see once in your life time. We...

    OTC Archery Elk?

Tons of good options. The closer to big populations the more people you will bump into. Check out F&G for unit populations etc., this can get you started in the right direction. You can PM when you choose an area, I don't know about every unit, but I can typically help...

    Winterkill 2018?

It's looking good so far, current weather pattern should hold through the end of the Month. There are fewer deer this year. And, yes this is a much different winter than last year, I would be surprised if it turned for the worse....

    Deer winter kill

I glassed far fewer forked horns this year, saw a few, and it seemed like the fawns were fewer this year as well. Never turned up anything mature, which was a change from the years past. I read articles stating that the young deer died as well as some of the older deer, my observations line up...

    S Idaho rut

I've always thought that the peak of the rut was a little earlier in Idaho than the States to the south, which makes sense. I typically the most rutting activity the 1st 2 weeks of November.
