Anybody know then,

Ya…… and so did Marty Robbins…… this is absurd. Glad I’ve got Sirius Radio and the WRH station, I can ignore these imposters.

Brad and Carrie are too white.....apparently
I can’t decide if we’re in Oz or they are, but I know for a fact we’re not living in the same universe, if this is country music.

I used to think Kenny Roger’s was a too far out there…….. He was more country than a single person in that building tonight.

Murder on Music Row
Song by George Strait

Nobody saw him running from sixteenth avenue.
They never found the fingerprint or the weapon that was used.
But someone killed country music, cut out its heart and soul.
They got away with murder down on music row.
The almighty dollar and the lust for worldwide fame
Slowly killed tradition and for that someone should hang
(oh, you tell them Alan).
They all say not guilty, but the evidence will show
That murder was committed down on music row.
For the steel guitars no longer cry and fiddles barely play,
But drums and rock 'n roll guitars are mixed up in your face.
Old Hank wouldn't have a chance on today's radio
Since they committed murder down on music row.
They thought no one would miss it, once it was dead and gone
They said no one would buy them old drinking and cheating songs (I'll still buy'em)
Well there ain't no justice in it and the hard facts are cold
Murder's been committed down on music row.
Oh, the steel guitars no longer cry and you can't hear fiddles play
With drums and rock 'n roll guitars mixed right up in your face
Why, the Hag, he wouldn't have a chance on today's radio
Since they committed murder down on music row
Why, they even tell the Possum to pack up and go back home
There's been an awful murder down on music row.

nothin more country than adding a little twang to the end of your notes & calling yourself Kelsea Ballerina... ?

Nelly & Bryan Adams are now country, wtf

OMG It's way f'n worse than I imagined. Hadn't watched it in years till I saw Lumpy's post. Jeezzuuus... nuthin about this award show resembles celebrating the best of country music. Wokeness has destroyed everything in our culture. Gar-un-dam-tee it, next year they will have the "Rachel Levine" best transgender artist of the year award, presented by Oprah & Mike O'bama

Couple newer folks Lumpy that I bet you'd really enjoy.

If you haven't yet, Google up Turnpike Troubadours. Not mainstream country, but probably the best country band around.

The Bird Hunters https://g.co/kgs/RZTFs7

And probably the best country artist not in mainstream today, Cody Jinks.

Somewhere In The Middle https://g.co/kgs/FZViLf

I stream through iHeartRadio a station out of Wasilla, Alaska that plays some good country. One out of San Antonio is pretty good.

And if you have HD radio, Country Joe is still playing good country on KSOP hd2

Is amazing how true that song has shown itself to be.

I can't figure who their market is. Redneck kids I know don't listen to it. Middle aged country fans don't listen. My kids can't stand it(my flat brimmer made us listen to "his music" heading fishing last week, it was a bunch of Marty Robbins, Waylon, Hag, and zero new country. I was proud). Is there really even an audience for it anymore?

I can’t think of a audience for it either. Every single person I know listens to the old stuff that’s still country. Best thing I could think of is that it’s for the wanna be country kids. They think they’re listening to country but really have no idea what real country is. They claim to be cowboys but have never rode a horse and can’t drive a manual. Those type of people are who I’m guessing

It's OK, guys. Relax. One of the old timers will eventually inspire someone to write a song about how he had to go looking for his two-timing, self-driving pickup after it left him for another dude in the middle of the night.

Thank you runamule. As I look back over the last 65 years, there were lots of great ones but Merle Haggard was the best out of all of them, IMO. I think homer said he’d got to attend a show or two of Merle’s. I’m really jealous.

I would have loved to set across a living room with Haggard for a couple hours. For once in my life I’d have shut my mouth and just listened to his stories. Great song writer, singer, and story teller/philosopher.

Don’t see any guys like him getting AM/FM radio play today. These old troubadours understood that better than any of us.

They said it before we did!

Thats a great tune and video!! Gotta agree with you about Haggard being the best.
No doubt it would of been a good day to hang out with the Hag for awhile.
I've seen him at least 4 maybe 5 times. I think it was his Bass player that is from Pocatello so he came to Idaho quite a bit.
Last time I seen him he was with Kris Kristoferson at a venue called the Morrison center Incredible sound in that place.

Founder Tried!

The first thing I remember knowing
Was a Moderator's whistle blowing
And a young'un's dream of growing up to Hunt
In an Old Willy's Jeep leaving town
Not knowing where I'm bound
And no one could change my mind, but Founder tried
One and only rebel child
From a family meek and wild
Founder seemed to know what lay in store
Despite all the Sunday MM Time I Was Burnin
Towards the bad I kept on turning
Till Founder couldn't Scold me anymore
And I turned eighty-one in MM prison doing life without parole
No one could steer me right, but Founder tried, Founder tried
Founder tried to treat me better, but his pleading I denied
That leaves only me to blame 'cause Founder tried
Dear old Homer, rest his soul
Left Founder a heavy load
He tried so very hard to fill his shoes
Working hours without rest
Wanted MM to be the best
He tried to teach me right, but I refused
And I turned eighty-one in MM prison doing life without parole
No one could steer me right, but Founder tried, Founder tried
Founder tried to teach me better, but his pleading I denied
That leaves only me to blame 'cause Founder tried

You sir, have way too much time on your hands. lol

I based my stereo around Klipsch speakers.
Great……. Thank you FD.

I think in the old days they used to say, “I’ll run a needle through that”.

Those toons bring back amazing memories of great times.

Lot of lessons taught in those. They aught to part of high school history curriculum right now.

You need to hire a couple of pickers and rip a new track. Spotify’s your huckleberry BC. They call’em re-records. 5,000 MM’s would down load that one…… in your noble honor. And Founder’s, of course.

I used to work with this guy and then he moved to Nashville, TN.. Has a great voice IMO..

I’d pay to hear that ole boy. Won’t be seeing him on CMA awards……… damn!

Thanks for sharing.

Really glad guys like him can get their music sold electronically now days. They can still play it and get it out there without the industry completely blocking their progress.

So no one has mentioned the late Charlie Daniels.

I wasn't much of a fan, but I had the privilege to have dinner with him, Eddie Money & the latter's mgr. in a small restaurant at Lake Havasu. Daniels told lots of tales. He also treated.

I was there as a press observer way back in the '80s for a Redman bass tourney. They were going to perform at the opening gala the next night. I can't even recall why I wound up being an invitee among all the other press people & tourney anglers, but I was glad I was. It was a fun night.

I met Eddie Money in Alamogordo, NM. He was High as a kite.

George Jones
Charley Pride
Johnny Cash
Freddy Fender
Dolly Parton
Tom T Hall
Patsy Cline

Just to name a few more…

So much great music on youtube that you will not find anywhere else.

Maybe not exactly country but still a pretty cool tune.

Was reading this and George Strait “Cold Beer Conversation“ came on. GS is still turning out some good stuff. Wanted to add that James Carothers is pretty damn good.

i don’t follow country music much anymore, but use to enjoy the more traditional artists. My favorite traveling music though was Chris LaDoux. Mix him in with some Garth Brooks, and I could drive for hours. I call it Cowboy Country. I heard a song a while ago that reminded of the old days. It was called “What the World needs now is more Cowboys”, I don’t remember the artist, but I liked it.
