Well I have decided to put in for the Beaver Archery Elk this year. I should be able to draw the tag. I know this unit well, but nevered elk hunted on it. I have heard that the elk rut late down there, but I know there are some awesome bulls. Was wondering if anybody could give me some help as far as good places for scouting or any opinions. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

Speaking as someone who cashed in last year on a LE archery tag, and ate tag soup, my biggest piece of advice would be to plan on spending EVERY day in Sept. down there till your hunt closes. The time I spent there during August was nothing more than a good area familiarization. Time is your enemy during the archery elk.

You must have 7 or 8 points to guarantee you that tag. Don't cash in on an archery hunt unless you are willing to eat tag soup. Utah does not help you archers out. Good luck!!
