I only have 1 point in Utah. I see the quality is good now. Guess I am going to start back on the points think. How many points does it take for these units and what are they. I heard Book cliffs maybe.

Most of the elk units in the state are producing big bulls, with the exeption of a couple. Sit back and enjoy the ride...it will be a long one!

put in on the cwmu units till you get 6 points may draw then

With 1 point it will take the rest of your life to draw the best units, thats if you are a teenager.

there are a few good units u can draw with archery i had drawn w 4 points 2 buddys w 5 points

Well I wish they did it like New Mexico. Its just simple luck for all everytime. Guess I will start. Problem is I will be 51 when I get 6 points. Maybe archery will take less.

If you're willing to go archery, your odds increase quite a bit. Check the draw odds on the DWR's web-site.

Bullbreath, with one point your chances are down. I have 15 points as a residence and am still waiting to draw my once in a life time elk tag in Utah. However, maybe you have luck on your side and can drew in the random draw. 50% of the total number of tags go out for that draw. 50% go to those with the highest points. You still have a chance of drawing!!!

I would have to say Pahvant (Fillmore) tag is the best in the state and San Juan (Elk Ridge) is the second best to put in for. I have been putting in for Pahvant forever now and still have several years (or decades) of waiting before i'll draw that bad boy but once I do...IT'S ON BUDDY!!!!

personally id put a few thousand away and buy a conservation tag or take out line of credit to accomplish your goals. you can buy a san juan tag for around 30,000 and the memories last alot longer than any truck will.

I will agree with berry, but you mentioned new mexico, you can buy the best elk tags in the state for 4-7K, and you can do it this year if you want!

we make six digit income and I would never even pay 4k for a trophy tag. I hunted 16a last year for 90 dollars. Guess Utah is a pipe dream. Its to bad they have the points system.

I will give 100 dollars/pt. Guess THAT AINT HAPPENING. Maybe I will try anyway.
