Crane Hunts

Just a general question. How come they only do the crane hunts in one portion of the state? I live like an hour from Cibola wildlife refuge and they’ve got thousands of them. We also get some here in Yuma that trickle down the Colorado river. I never put in because I do not want to drive that far to hunt them but it sure would be nice to be able to hunt them closer to home if I did get drawn.

Generally, the only times that they closely regulate or close crane seasons is when you have the endangered whooping cranes in the flyway. They don't want to risk mis-identifying one for a sandhill.
