HMAS Permits

Does anyone know if they have any proposed permit numbers for these hunts? As a NR it's tough to find a unit that two people can draw together with points. A friend and I have 19 & 18 points respectively and would like to draw a unit together. Hopefully they'll keep the permit numbers fairly low to keep from putting to much pressure on the deer that late, but it would still be nice to hunt with a friend.

I'm guessing they will follow the usual pattern, one for non-residents to draw, 20 to MDF/SFW to sell to make the deer hunting better.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-25-19 AT 04:50PM (MST)[p]Elkassassin,
You?re right, it's HAMS. As usual they probably won't have permit numbers out until after the application date, I was just wondering if they any preliminary numbers that they were considering. I saw this listed in the 2020 on line application booklet, so I thought that it was a done deal.

It looks like a done deal, I'm guessing the units that have more than one late muzzy tag might have more than one HAMS tag. But that is just a guess.

Yes, the HAMS hunts are a done deal and are listed in the new 2020 proclamation.

At the RAC, they said the permit numbers for these hunts will be low.

As for what "low" means, we won't know that until after the counts and "assumptions" are tallied up.

Per the mule deer mgt plan, it states that LE hunts such the HAMS would be .5% of available tags, and no less than 5. HAMS hunts are defined as LE hunts.

Examples:
.5% of 1000 tags (1000 x .05) = 50 HAMS tags or,
.5% of 100 tags (100 x .05) = 5 HAMS tags

And Next year I Expect the Tag Numbers to go Up as Per....!
