I drew the special hunt at this SWA. Any special tips or considerations? What is the camping like there?

You can camp in the SWA parking lot or in Sugarite Park for a fee. The SWA burned pretty bad two summers ago. Last i heard it was not coming back too quickly. Try parking in New Mexico on the south of the lake and hike into Gobblers Knob. Let me know what it looks like down there. Great place to hunt.

It USED to be a great turkey area....

Fires and over-hunting have hurt it. Also, people on the NM side feed the turkeys in the spring. This holds the birds down low and out of the area for a little longer than normal.

Still some birds there though...

Later in the season is better.
