Late archery elk

Has anybody here hunted the late archery elk season? Seems like a near impossible task.

I thought they had a couple of the late archery hunts last year.

arizona has had a november archery hunt for years and yes it can be a very tuff hunt. sucess is usally low. hopefully most hunters stayed away from all the additional nov. archery hunts, the game and fish is doing to a test run to see how many people put in 1st and 2nd choice and if enough people put in for it then they will start taking tags from the rut hunt and switching them to the november hunts for more hunters to be in the feild.

Yeah right. Wishful thinking. Nobody will pass up an elk tag in AZ, no matter when the hunt dates are, and no matter how hard it may be to kill something. Yes it is harder to kill a bull in November, but it is very similar to hunting archery deer in August. The deer aren't rutting then.

Its not at all like deer in August. Its colder, sitting water is nowhere near as effective that time of year, and the hunting pressre! You'll be competing with rifle hunters scouting, and after 2 or 3 hunts are alread completed = less game and harder to get on, especially with a bow.

Like hunter1 said, try to avoid these as 1st and 2nd choice, else you risk hurting archery elk tags during the rut. If you have to have a tag, put it for your last choice.

jasn hittin the nail on the head, that is very funny just like hunting deer in aug. i wish it were that easy, i love to hunt the rut hunt for elk it would be ashame to loose all the tags to the nov hunt. i know it can be hard enough to compete with 100 other hunters just imagine trying to hunt with 300 others and that is what will happen if game and fish get there way.
