I want to apply for az elk this year. if i do and am unsuccesful how much money am i out? Also when is the deadline to apply for elk this year.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-13 AT 08:50AM (MST)[p]The draw deadline is 7 p.m. on Feb. 12. Mailed applications must be RECEIVED by the department by the deadline. Postmark dates do not count.

You didn't say whether you're a resident or NR but from your user name, I'll assume a NR. As such, if you apply online you will need to buy a license at $151.25 and pay the $7.50 application fee. If successfull, you will then be charged $587.50 for the tag on the same CC as you used to apply.

If you apply via snailmail, you must include a CHECK or MO for the full amount ($746.25), including the license if you do not purchase one BEFORE applying. If unsuccessful, you will get the cost of ONLY the tag refunded.

So in either case, and unssuccessful try will cost you $158.75, and you will get a bonus point for next year's draw.
