LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-12 AT 12:15PM (MST)[p]The Dedicated Hunter program was capped at a maximum of 10,000 tags a few years back. When they upped the service hours to 40 a bunch of guys dropped out of the program and so did the demand for tags. Since then the total number of deer tags has also dropped and the website now states 15% of available tags for any unit can go to dedicated hunters. So given that standard, it is impossible to determine what the odds for getting a DH tag will be on any unit. You can see what they were for this year, but depending on how many guys are still in their 3 years, you won't know how many new openings there are in each unit for new DHs.
I'd say it's kind of a crap shoot, but I am in my 3rd year, so I won't have to worry about it for another year.
