Velvet buck question

If I have to take off the velvet from the horn will the horn have the bumps and texture of a hard horn? Will the horn look ok. I was told the color will not be normal but I could get the color back with no problem. I don't have the money to do it right. If anyone has any suggestions for me to preserve the velvet or if I can take it off and stil look ok with some work.

I would just leave it on because thats the way you shot it and thats how you remember it by.

But if you want it off my grandpa shot a velvet buck a long time ago and took the velvet off and had the taxi re color them to natural deer horn color. Looks pretty killer.

Check with your taxi and his past velvet to hardhorn work.
