Thank you brian390 I will check out that area in the AM. I had been looking more on the 89 side as it has more public area. I know all to well how hard it is to find good spots on public land and am truly thankful for the advise.

Thanks Stanley, we moved from Utah where the general (non permit) hunts were much simpler to figure out. Here, there are what 50 plus units to chose from? My son, 10, and I have been qual and dove hunting with great success but the area has no deer sign at all. I will keep looking, thanks again.

I may be off here but as far as I know there is no harm in dry firing any center fire rifle or handgun. The firing pin is never touching anything to cause any harm. I would be leery of using a cap for both safety and waste reasons.
