    Fishing this morning Humboldt Bay

What a great fishery to be able to target halibut close in. Think you might have hooked a sturgeon?

    For you snake haters....

I had a good sized rattler with no rattles in my parking barn yesterday. His tail was blunt after the coon stripes.

    Every hunter should know this

I've had it happen with cows twice. I put a rope on them and pulled one with a pickup and one with a 4 wheeler. Each time they had laid down in a shallow irrigation ditch.

    Hunting as you get older

Anymore, if I can take one animal a year, preferably a yearling cow elk, to butcher, cook and make stuff I'm content. I've had a good run starting in 1963 and got to hunt several western states. I guess my goal now is to get the meat I want while killing the fewest animals possible. I would like...

Any current recommendations for elk processing in that area. A search brought up Chuck's, CnS and Musich but that was 2009 info.

Do you truly believe that your pissing matches with a handful of NR hunters on this little forum is representative of all NR hunters?

    90/10 R/NR split MSGBG

Maybe I missed it while skipping over all the bickering but who is sponsoring this bill? WSA? An individual?

90/10 Split for deer, elk, antelope, sheep, moose, and goat

They're not going to lose out on anything. Nowadays tag demand is so high that almost all the leftover tags eventually sell. That has to offset lower quotas and a smaller split to NR. Add to that an eventual fee increase. They, whoever they are, can do whatever they want. It's just hard to...

    Bass Hill Muzzleloader / X6a

My family took a lot of bucks off that hill starting in the 40's. It was really great habitat until the fire in the late70's early 80's. 6' tall bitterbrush over much of it. You know there's a guzzler on top off the Sunnyside Rd side. Used to be a nice covey of chukar there but I think they're...

    Danny's outstanding CA muzzleloader buck!

I must be missing something or the pictures are deceiving because that buck looks like he will score very well to me. The main beams look to be 28" or better, above average mass and ok point length puts him close to all time BC in my eyes. Must be the picture or my old eyes.

    Building knifes

Really nice work and they look really functional as well. Great gifts!

    Danny's outstanding CA muzzleloader buck!

With those long beams that buck should score really high. The 4x5 must really be something to outscore this deer.Congrats to the hunter.

    Archery Antelope

Spot & stalk with archery gear, nice work on a solid buck. It must have been killing you to not be able to hunt until 15 days into the season.

    Chukar recipes anyone??

Take a breast and cut slits on each side of the keel. Open up a little pocket on each side and stuff with roasted red peppers and pepper jack cheese. Put a good rub on the breast and drape bacon over it. Grill using indirect heat until the bacon cooks. Don't overcook it.

    Who needs a Hoe?

I agree Joey. That rig {with the right operator) can get a lot of work done in tight quarters. When I was still in concrete I used an old guy with that same machine to dig my footings. Now I use his grandson with the same machine to clean my hillside irrigation ditches where I wont take my 4wd...

    Draw results

I always pick the hardest tag to draw so I can get a point and still get my LOP tag. Well, it didn't work this year. I drew 154C with 2 points.

    Anyone in for antelope ?

I think I have it narrowed down but still undecided. Looking for a good 2 point hunt for 4 of us. Did you draw your elk tag? Unit 7 type6 for me.

HB0112 Big Game & Trophy Licenses

He's an American with the intelligence to see the big picture. If a Wyo res doesn't draw a deer or elk tag don't they then have the option of buying a regional or general tag? Aren't they guaranteed a chance to hunt and have the chance to purchase several tags?

    Chukar HAtch??? Again

That's hardcore. Close call on hitting that road. Sounds like a disc/sciatic problem. Same thing ruined my Wyoming elk season this year. Was that your letter to the editor about funding the pool? Whoever it was nailed it.

    General elk outfitters

    >I'd hire BuzzH. No kidding. He really has it dialed in. He did help me last year and I had a successful hunt. I went back for archery this year and after 2 days I was done. Both hips locked up. I'm getting around better now and might be able to pull it off. I'll miss the chance to get a bull...

    Late Spring Snow

Even in mild winters some of the young ones don't make it.If they start on that new grass to early they're goners. We see it every year and it's usually a fawn or yearling. This was a bad winter for predation here. From what we see there are more killed by predators than are being born in our...

    Late Spring Snow

I just don't know how they did. My gut feeling is there wasn't a major die off. More guys such as yourself are backing off when the birds are stressed. Gives them a chance to concentrate on survival instead of using up their reserves avoiding us. Overall I think last years hatch was spotty. Some...

    Late Spring Snow

SE of you in Richland it looks pretty good. Deer have dispersed from the valley floor and there's lots of open ground. The coyotes killed an awful lot this winter when the Powder iced over and the deer were in the canyon but it's opened up now. Were the deer that died fawns or yearlings? If...
