I had this tag last year, when I finally found bucks there were 6 other guys also moving in on them, lots of competition, If I get the tag again I'd skip the first 3 days and wait for it to clear out some.

I was in 43 last year and between the rifle and muzzleloader guys it was pretty crowded. Only basin I found bucks in had 6 other hunters trying to stalk them and this was a 4 hour hike to get there.

The patterns won't change except to become much more nocturnal.

I don't believe the game and fish publishes the data necessary to precisely answer your question. That hunt does not appear to have the non residents hitting the 5% cap in the bonus round so I would assume the 10% cap is not a limiting factor in the 1-2 pass round.

The tag that is returned for points isnt refunded so in your example it costs the family $55 not $10. the crazy thing is that the G$F has not said what they do with that tag then. Maybe they will give it to a commissioner? maybe they will auction it?

One change I would make is to allow non-residents up to 20% with no more than 10% being allocated in the bonus point pass. My 2 cents as a resident :-)

I would say browning bar in .243 with a muzzle brake. The semi-auto action takes about 30% of the recoil away and the brake takes another 30%. I have this same rig in 30 06 and I can't really feel recoil at all its just really loud.

One thing to keep in mind is eye relief especially for the youth, I have both a vortex viper and a leupold and much prefer the leupold because of the longer eye relief.

If your a resident I would say why not on the lion tag, for the nonresident cost I wouldn't spend the money. There are lots of coyotes out there though.
