    JR'S wild game proessor

I used them about 4 years ago. They did an okay job. They were nowhere near the best I have used, but they weren't the worst either.

    Sighting in trouble

    > last year >I had my pins all >different and were not on >center of the wire on >my spot hogs That's definitely a problem of some kind. You should hit exactly the same left to right at 20 yards that you do at 50 yards.

    Sighting in trouble

You can use powder foot spray on your rest and riser to see if the vanes are hitting. If the rest is hitting the shelf that could be letting it bounce back up before the internal brake catches. I've had that happen before. Are you able to get a bullet hole when you paper tune? How many pounds...

    Sighting in trouble

Are you getting fletching contact on your rest? It sounds like it's either that, not properly tuned, or the arrows aren't spined correctly for your setup.

Talk me out of a Monster!

    >MrKrabs > >Did you ever shoot the MR5? > Yeah I've shot it and didn't really care for it. It's a little faster than the MR6, but for me it doesn't shoot as well. I think the MR6 has a good blend of speed, forgiveness, and accuracy.

Talk me out of a Monster!

I've got a MR7 and a MR6. I honestly shoot the MR6 better I believe, but they are both good bows. I'm shooting a 420gr arrow at 305 fps with only 66# of draw weight with the MR6. The draw length of that bow is about 29.5", but has the 29" modules installed.

    60# OR 70#

I'll take a heavy arrow at decent speed over a light arrow at blazing speeds every time.

    Bow Sight for Carbon Matrix

If you're going with fixed pins then the Axcel Armortech can't be beat. If you want a floating pin the guys I shoot with seem to really like the HHA.

    60# OR 70#

    >pauns08, you totally should have come >and said hello, wish I >could have met ya. > >WVBOWAK- that is kinda the same >thing that I have heard >also, which is why I >don't want to get a >70lb bow and loosen it >up so I am at >62 lbs, when I could >get a 60lb bow and >have tight at 62...

    slick trick broad heads

I started using them this past season. I shot a big bull elk at 33 yards. I aimed just a touch forward and hit him in the shoulder. I still got about 16" of penetration and had a massive blood trail.

Noobie getting back into shape ...

I've never used one of these, but have been thinking about getting one. http://www.bow-trainer.com/ Also when you draw your bow instead of using only arm and shoulder strength to get the weight back turn your hip slightly towards the bow before you start your pull then rotate back around as...

    First archery elk hunt

I was guided on this hunt. I didn't have all the gear I needed for this kind of hunt and decided since this was my first wilderness hunt it might be a good idea to get some help.

    First archery elk hunt

LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-11 AT 12:02PM (MST)[p]I archery hunted western Montana a couple of weeks ago and if I can get P&Y to open a category for 4x4 elk only I think I may have the world record. We were hunting about 12 miles in the wilderness and killed this bull about 1 mile from camp I'm...

    That's quite a haul!
  18. M

    Thanks MrKrabs

Quite a haul! I'm glad to see you're giving the pack a workout. I hope the new pack I have is as lucky as that pack was for me.
  19. M

    Thanks MrKrabs

I should have charged you more for that pack :). I killed my first cow, first bull, and first mule deer with that pack so it looks like the good luck streak is still in tact.

    Idaho Wilderness Company

The main thing I was wanting to sort out is if I can expect to see 5-10 160" bucks a day. I want my expectations to be realistic for any hunt I decide to go on. The adventure is unparalleled in the lower 48 which really has me wanting to give it a try. In Colorado I would be hunting on private...

    Idaho Wilderness Company

Thanks for your candor Matt. That's exactly the type of feedback I've been looking for. I checked out Mile High Outfitters and see a few bucks that might hit 180", but I see a lot that would be lucky to hit 140". Mile High Outfitters does have what appears to be a good deal on the wilderness...

    Idaho Wilderness Company

Thanks for the info. I'm also considering a hunt with Comanche Wilderness Outfitters in Colorado. I know on his hunts a 180 buck is a very good possibility, but the hunt just doesn't have the adventure factor that this hunt in the Frank does. You are correct that the majority of bucks I've...

    Idaho Wilderness Company

The hunt consultant recommended not getting an elk tag since it would take away from the deer hunting. He is a big mule deer hunter and is out to tag a huge buck so that has some bearing on that too I'm sure. Hopefully by the time I go wolf hunting is legal again so I can help with some of the...

    Idaho Wilderness Company

Those are some nice looking bucks. That bottom buck would have been a brute with a few more years to grow! I like wide bucks, but not nearly as much as I like mass so it sounds like the Frank has what I'm looking for.

    Idaho Wilderness Company

Thanks for the info! I haven't talked to Steve yet. I've been talking to a "hunt consultant" that recommended him. I'm planning a trip to Montana this year if I draw tags, but wanted to get some info on Steve as a backup plan or a hunt for 2012. So I don't have any info on camps yet. I told the...

    Idaho Wilderness Company

It looks like the current outfitter tried to sell the hunting side of the business twice and then took it back for various reasons so that may be the reason for the old pictures. Everything else I hear about Idaho's deer and elk population talks about the severe decline in trophy potential and...

    Idaho Wilderness Company

Do any of you have a review of Idaho Wilderness Company? I'm thinking about doing one of their mule deer hunts. I'm wondering if the quality of the deer and hunt are as good as I'm being led to believe. Is there a legitimate chance of seeing 180"+ bucks?

    Bitterroot Unit changes?

    Bitterroot Unit changes?

Do you know how long it has been planned to convert 250 to limited draw?

    Bitterroot Unit changes?

I know this is a vague question, but have any of the units around the Bitterroots just been converted to limited draw areas for 2011?

    NMWF ?

The amount of auction tags and "presidents" tags the federal government would create will make even Utah feel ashamed. :) I believe New Mexico residents do have some legitimate complaints about their current system, mostly the landowner tag allocation system. Supporting an organization that...

    NMWF ?

Good lord drop the internet badass act and learn to take a joke. I am glad we agree the 2% to DIY NR is bs. If it's being dropped to 10% for NR so be it, but it shouldn't be mandated that NR use a guide to have any chance of drawing a tag.

    Enter to WIN Minox Optics

I bought a lens for my Nikon a couple of years ago from Doug. The service was phenomenal to say the least. They are always at the top of my list when I'm looking at optics.

    NMWF ?

I hope this means ElkMan gets a premium tag every year. If not he'll be calling for tags to be restricted to only native born residents or worse. It's a damn shame with all the federal tax I pay every year that I'm continually restricted from hunting the national forest I pay to help maintain.

    2011-2011 Montana Deer Tag

Eric, If you haven't figure it out you won't make some of these guys happy until you tell them you're rolling in money from all the outfitting you do no matter if it's true or not. I've never met you or even talked to you on the phone, but if you can take the abuse you're getting here and...

    Euro Elk Mounts

Just thought I would post an update on my new Skull Hooker. I talked to Rob Shaw from Skull Hooker a bit and he told me the skull might be off a bit. Sure enough I checked where the prong attachment points are and it's just slightly thicker on one side. I believe that is my issue on the...

    >> How much state tax do you pay in MT?........Thats what i thought. Unless you're hunting on state owned property I don't care what you paid in state tax to Montana. The last time I checked national forest, BLM, etc were paid for with my federal tax dollars as well as yours. The only reason...
