I once found a area full of bones from deer and elk! I was walking around in the area and heard a elk calf calling. Turned out to be a mountain lion teaching his young kit to hunt. It was a mountain lions killing ground or bone yard. That looks like what that is.

Saw two bulls today that still had there antlers. One was a small 6x6 and the other was a 5x5.

I have a sister that lives about ten minutes from the Ruidoso Downs. Called her and she said it was pretty bad. My nephew is with the hotshot crew down there and said they could not get a handle on it until the winds calm down.

Unit 2B had a lot of snow last year. I was there during the January archery hunt and the deer were really stressed. I think this years low deer count is a result of last years bad winter. I hope it gets better for the last hunt. How has this last hunt been?

What part of the state did this happen? Did you ever find out who the outfitter was?

I don't think so! I have a few hunts in November for mule deer in 2b and the Rio Chama that I need to outfit. The 2B hunt runs during the first hunt in the Kaibab and the Rio Chama youth hunt runs during the last hunt in the Kaibab. To bad I was hoping to get out to Arizona at least once this...

I shot video for Duwanes elk and deer camps (Trijicons Outdoor America)for the last few years and I have to say that he is the best outfitter I have ever worked for. He treats his guides as well as his hunter with a lot of respect and that in turn creates a comfortable hunting camp atmosphere.

Yes! If you can find a pocket with a cow that is in her second estrus cycle you will get into some bugling action.

I have guided in that unit the last two years and have killed bulls during that time. They are still bugling but in pockets. The post rut does occur during that time . Good Luck.....

Good outfitter/guide. Steve will get you on some elk. Just practice shooting your bow and get ready for some close encounters.

I was just going to comment on elk rubbing right before they shed. I found an antler right under a fresh scraped tree this year.
