NM 16D - 3rd Archery tag (Unit Wide)

If it doesn't work out with Dave, I would also be interested. I would be using the tag myself, not reselling...thanks, Bill 480 861 0603

    2012 Fall Draw Results

Thanks for the link! Got right in this time. Already knew we were 3/4 on deer tags and no sheep, just didn't know which 3 or which choices. Ended up with 1 archery and 2 rifle tags in 3A/C (2nd choices) so that's cool as our cabin is in that area.

F CC Apps! OMG End of July?

The problem isn't the online draw application process (I think most would say it's great), the problem is with the process of filling the tags and notifying the applicants. The answer is so obvious that many people mention it immediately - simply collect the entire fee up front! Take a week or...

    Good archery shop

+1m on Bull Basin...IMO, I would drive there from Phoenix rather than go to Archery HQ's (they are fine if $$$ is noooo object and mediocre service is ok with you)

    VW's 2012 Arizona Elkventures

Wow, what a long and frustrating wait?yesterday, the word on the street was that the results were finally available! But, that was just the beginning. Obviously, the phone lines were constantly busy, but you'd think the internet link would work right? Wrong! A lot has been written in blogs on...

AZ ELK & ANTELOPE CC HITS

Simple solution - just charge the whole fee up front! There would have to be a really quirky law that would allow that with a check and paper application, but not with a CC and on-line application. Bonus deal - it would likely cut way down on "superfluous" applications and increase the draw...

    VW's 2012 Arizona Elkventures

That turned out to be a false alarm yesterday - dang it! The draw section of the website came back on-line with some graphics changes, but no results. Maybe later today? While I impatiently wait, I will post a few pictures from last year?s hunt ? my quest for the big archery bull. As you can...

    VW's 2012 Arizona Elkventures

So why did I choose ?Elkventures? as part of my blog title? I think the reference to ?elk? and ?adventures? is obvious, but why pick elk when I already stated I was going to keep this year?s entries of a general nature? Well, AZ has gone back to on-line applications as an option after many...

    VW's 2012 Arizona Elkventures

It's 9:27am on Monday April 2, 2012 and I have decided to start this, my 3rd successive attempt to capture my hunting efforts in word and picture this year. I say attempt because my effort in 2011 was pitiful and left incomplete. In 2010, my entries captured everything that was important going...

    Point Creep

Just a guess, but it could be that (with extremely limited exceptions) if you don't use your points obtaining a tag, you don't hunt that species that year. In other words - no general tags available after the draw, no drawing on 2nd or 3rd choice without using BP's, etc. So, since most people...

    are bows that good

Here's the problem - there are no (or at least few) absolutes! The original post questioned a 120 & 130 yard shot. Fair enough, I think (almost) everyone would agree that's outrageous. But then someone chimes in with yeah, but 80 is ok (staring straight at you no less). Someone else says 50...

    3A /3C archery question

I'm a resident and hunted it last year during the archery hunt. Be happy to fill you in on details, but short story is it's a great hunt. Then again, there are several units that would fall in the same category.

    Life Time Licence?

Agreed...I've had one for years and it's paying off even as a resident. But now that non-residents have to purchase a license before putting in for the draw, it IS a no-brainer. 2 years of applying as a NR and you'll pay for the LT license. In case you didn't know, you will have to pay the NR...

100 vs. 150 grains of pellets?

Thanks for the replies...coinsidently, I went to Hornady's webpage and looked at their ballistic tables. They list ONLY 150 gr loads for both 250 and 300 gr bullets. They recommend 3" high at 100 yards which will put you about 3" low at 200. I wonder what those numbers would be for a 100 gr...

100 vs. 150 grains of pellets?

Buying a ML tomorrow (see previous post) and will be using pellets and a 300 gr Hornady sabot. Should I use 2 (100 gr) or 3 (150 gr) pellets? I have heard that accuracy suffers with the max load, but that's not making alot of sense to me. This will be for a (hopefully big) bull elk hunt.
