Is this the largest 6 point of all time?

Good on states like Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, Michigan and other eastern states. It's pretty incredible to see the elk restored to other areas they originally thrived in. Keep up the good work! I'm sure hunting Eastern terrain is a different experience, especially with limited public...

    My NV bull

Congratulations! Great story and even better bull. Amazing to think that a creature like that can walk through trees and vegetation. The width is fantastic. A hunt you'll replay in your mind over and over I'm sure!

    Your Favorite ID Muzzy Setup

I was told about the No Excuses muzzleloader bullets last year. I gave them a try and have loved them. I shoot the 50 caliber 460 grain bullet. They shoot great out of my Knight Bighorn.

    New CWD rules from F&G

Be aware of bringing any carcass or parts of deer, elk, or moose into the state of Idaho from other states. Fish and Game recently posted this on their website. https://idfg.idaho.gov/press/fg-commission-approves-new-rules-prevent-chronic-wasting-disease-entering-idaho

    Unit 6 Scouting Questions

As luck (good luck) would have it I pulled an early rifle season Unit 6 deer tag. I've not been in that area before but I'm planning on a couple 3 day scouting trips before the season opens. I'll go next week and then again mid-September. I'm excited to learn more about the area and to hunt...

    Idaho 46-1 Muzzleloader

I just wanted to share what a great hunt it was to be with Adam and his son. Thanks also to Jake for the superb calling skills. I would have never expected to randomly meet up with a fellow MonsterMuley fan and hunt together but it worked out great. Bummer that things didn't work out for you...

    Idaho Moose 61-3

Congrats on getting a moose. I hope to get a tag on one someday too. Hopefully the pack out wasn't too brutal, they are massive creatures indeed!

    Unit 68 Antelope

I was fortunate enough to draw unit 68 antelope. I know it's a huge unit so I'm trying to narrow down my hunting locations. I'm thinking about 3 general locations: Gifford Springs, west of Moreland, and around Big Southern Butte. Any thoughts on which of those areas might be better than the...

    Iconic trophies from the West

LAST EDITED ON May-05-16 AT 04:57AM (MST)[p]Just me daydreaming here; if you had a load of disposable income and/or tag-drawing luck how awesome would it be to get a different trophy from each of the Western States? What would the iconic or quintessential animal be from each state for you? My...

    Valle Caldera draw question

I know the New Mexico draw for 2016 is already done, I'm just curious how to apply for a Valles Caldera tag. Is it through the NM Fish and Game service or is it done independently through the vallescaldera.gov website? Have they established seasons and tag quotas there for 2016? Thanks for any...

    Ever noticed?

I noticed the same thing in the regs. I sent an email to IDFG to clarify the issue. They were kind enough to respond. Their response was that it was an oversight to leave the 5-permit controlled hunt in Units 55 and 57. The hunt appears in the regulations but will not be available to hunters...

    15 bucks per 100 doe's.. really?

Couldn't agree with you more! What a spin they try to pass off. They must think we as hunters have the memories of goldfish. Did we not just experience one of the worst hunting seasons on record? Ask most any hunter around, nonresident or resident and the story is the same- no deer to hunt...

    Strange Kills?

Great posts, strange kills for sure. First buck I ever shot came about in a strange way. I took a shot on a 3x4 buck that was bedded down. The buck reared up like a stallion with both front legs reaching high in the sky and then tipped over. I thought I had a dead buck on the ground until I...

unit 51 november muzzy deer tag

Don't know how it will be on the late hunt but the general hunt was poor for our camp. We hit it hard, hiked off trail several miles every day and only saw does and a handful of yearling bucks. Hopefully for you all the big boys are still up in the high country.
  40. B

What do you think of this scenario?

I would have no problem with someone "finishing" off the deer, whether or not they knew it had already been hit. But once they find out that it was previously wounded as shown by a blood trail, be a man and concede the deer! It typifies the world of hunting that has developed where the end...
