    8th annual Gramp Camp

About this time of year I take as many of the 21 grand kids that will go on a mile and a half backpack to our secret spot. We have a BIG campfire, eat a lot, explore, do a compass course, and culminate with giving them something that their mothers disapprove of, (in the past it has been wrist...

I can't hear my brass hit the floor

Every show I see now has the unmistakable sound of the expended brass tinkling when it hits the floor. This sounds cool but I must be doing something wrong because I can't hear it when I shoot. Maybe it has something to do with me shooting the first 25 years without hearing protection. Tonight...

    To Trust or not Trust?

I have formulated a few opinions based on 60+ years of observing the human condition. I see two two polar opposites of personality types when confronted with trust issues. One is what I will call the "Trusting". They are characterized by believing most every thing they are told whether from...

    Lost/Left knive by gut pile?

The skinning a deer fast thread reminded me of the times,(plural), I have left my knife near a gut pile. I confess to having had someone else remind me to pick it up, going a dozen steps and then looking for it, getting to camp and remembering it, and even getting home and find it missing. I am...

    Grandpa's Deer

When I was a kid my granddad shot this deer, took it home, ate it and then threw the horns in the backyard. After he died I got the bleached out skull and horns and then found a cape and resurrected them. It now hangs in my office to remind me of him.
