New tag allocation numbers hit me!! 17 points for archery elk in unit 40 = unsuccessful and another point for me.

I'm waiting on elk as well. I'm thinking they haven't done the elk draw yet.

From what I've gathered, I bet that he's probably a no-frills guy that just gets it done day in and day out. I bet he doesn't get excited when an elk goes down because that's just what is expected - just another day. People always recommend him because they know the expectation and experience...

I’m not talking about specific responses for references he provides - I was just talking about general word on the street. You mention Lawson, everyone says the same thing. My question, have they even been with him, or is that just what they heard?

I was looking for some first hand experiences with Mike Lawson during archery elk season. I've heard nothing but great things about Mike, but it's never anything specific and I don't even know that the guys talking so highly have even gone with him.

Looking at purchasing some 15x56 binoculars and would like to stay around $700-$1200. Sig Zulu 15x56? Vortex?

Is there a setting on these binoculars for the range to just read the range with elevation compensation? Basically, a shoot to distance? They get complicated real fast in my opinion. I just wanted a binocular that would range 0-500 quickly to eliminate a device to carry around with me.

How would the quality of the hunt and quality of the bulls compare in these two units? Both would be through outfitter. #40 would be archery or 3rd rifle and #76 would be the late October hunt, rifle. Not so caught up in score as I am an old, mature bull. Thanks in advance.

Nevada

I was able to take this Nevada bull this past week. It was a great hunt, seeing 20-25 bulls per day. Northern Nevada.

I've killed quite a few mule deer and tried a couple times on elk, but here is my first this year - Nevada.

I recently looked at G odds and based on trends, it seemed like it was growing 1/2-1 point per year. I'm trying to draw it in 2024. I have 5 as of 12/31/2020. I don't know that I'll catch it by 2024.

Yes, frustrating the difficulty of obtaining tags these days. Some areas, even if you have the points, you're on a 3 year waiting list to go with the outfitter you want. I'm not sure what my kids will do if they want to hunt - I guess own private property?

Problem resolved...! The scope base was thicker on one end - turned around, used new screws, and cinched it right down.

I got the mount off with little to no damage. All the screws will screw in very smoothly except those front two, it's as if the screw is too big in diameter. I can screw it in about 1.5 turns and that's it. Contact Browning next?
