I agree with above average. Saw more small 6x elk in areas where they are usually just 5x5’s

This hunt will be a blast! By far the best hunt unit 2 has left. With a little patience you will have the possibility of finding one of the few big bucks left out and about rutting. Good luck!

Back when I was ten years old in 2000 ish and lived in az I put in for hunts and was unsuccessful in drawing. Now I am wanting to apply as a non resident for elk. Is there any chance I have a point from way back when or do I just start with 0 now. Just being hopeful they can recover it?

Anybody got any info for the cow hunt this weekend? scouting has produced very little the last few weekends. just curious where they went from the archery seasons when they were everywhere.

I'm sure people go in there all the time! Why don't they just let the woodcutters go in and take care of the issue with falling tree's? I don't see things changing much if any because of the closure as it is a small area of the unit. I bet some of you can verify that based off last years hunts...

i agree it will be a great area to look at and i plan on doing just that. i was just wondering how people plan on accessing the perimeter if walking isn't allowed? And where exactly is the perimeter? is it marked? As far as i could tell it was only marked at the road.

maybe it was just for that day while they were working. Still curious if it causes more pressure in other parts due to the campgrounds and trailheads being closed. sorry for the worry guys I just thought that was weird. Can't wait for September up in those mountains!!!

how has the closure effected elk hunting in the rest of the unit or is the access still pretty good. i was just up there and was surprised to find it closed so close to town.

in case somebody come across a spike bull in the rosa area in the next few weeks with my arrow possibly still in him id like to have the closure as i lost him due to a high hit. please let me know if anybody finds him thanks. i will work out contact info if one is found and verify arrow and area

Unit 51 rifle hunt is a zoo!! After the first rifle hunt the elk all go to private. Get as far as you can away from the zoo of hunters and you might stand a chance. Archery is a whole different story than rifle. To me the only decent rifle hunts are the first bull hunt and the late muzz hunt

It is a unit 2 buck taken jan 4th at 40 yards on public land with my bow! Shot him with the exact same arrow I got my deer with last year! Put him to bed the night before and got above him the next morning he walked right to us and the rest is history! I am curious what y'all think he might...
