    Area 38 elk pictures

I had the archery tag in 38, had a couple really good bulls located and just couldn't close the deal. Would not come in to calls and wind switching directions every few minutes was very frustrating, but that biggest bull was a 350 class hanging out right by a main road:cry:

    90/10 not going away...

As a nonresident with 21 sheep points and 57yo, I'm feeling even more used and abused. Wyoming has gladly taken more and more of my money over the years for the opportunity to one day draw a Bighorn tag. Now they may change the rules to make it unlikely to draw this tag while I'm physically...

    Retirement

Probably right about the RV, just like the idea of being mobile until I saw if we could be that far away from kids/grandkids. Maybe I can talk the whole crew into coming out if it works out, oldest son gonna want to be out hunting with me all the time anyways.

    Retirement and PP question.

I'm 55yo and will work at least 5-7 more years full time, then I thought about getting a motorhome and setting up out west, work a little to cover living expenses while retirement keeps building, base out of Utah and travel around with the wife a good deal during the off season. I currently...

So if I move to Utah and retire, will my nonresident points then be applied as a resident?

    Manti Limited Entry Elk

Currently at 18pts and could draw the early rifle as a NR if I jump in, not in a big hurry as I'm hunting other states every year. Would like to hear about the pressure from other hunters/parties and recreation traffic to expect and size of the bulls one could realistically harvest on the Manti...

    How high for deer?

Been looking at 521 mainly, hunted elk during archery back in the 90's above Cedaredge and saw a couple nice bucks in the timber. Just wondered if all the elk hunters along with seemingly warmer temps in the fall would keep some deer up higher and out of town and off private during the second...

    How high for deer?

I should have a second season rifle deer tag on the Mesa, first time in that area during that season, are the deer likely still up high, especially given the trend towards warm falls.

Unit 1 Elk Then & Now

I hunted that tag about four years ago and we just drove into town at lunch occasionally to grab a burger and check in. I think my partner had Verizon and was able to do some work with his phone while sitting at the Sonic there, AT&T was almost useless. May not be what it once was, but I'd love...

    ATV muffler reqirements

Was looking to get my ATV permit online and read about needing forest service approved spark arrestor, my ATV is an older Honda but has spark arrestor stamped on end of the muffler. Are they going to enforce the part about forest service approved if I get checked?

    Meat Processor around unit 13

I didn't even ask, usually just get elk cut basic, butterfly straps, tenderloin whole, roast and cube steak, burger the rest, save the summer sausage, jerky, etc for deer back home. He did say he might be out guiding, but had a meat cutter on stand by 24/7. Processing is a lot cheaper back...

    Meat Processor around unit 13

Three of us have archery tags and will be hunting around Datil, will likely need to have one or two processed depending on how early in the hunt we tag out. Any help appreciated.

    Spring bear in East Cabinets

Thanks for the reply, I'd be ok with trying to hit the snowmelt right and seeing some new country, but given the travel distance and expense involved, I'd like to have a better chance of harvesting a bear, although a week in that country would be a good introduction to mountain hunting for a...

    Spring bear in East Cabinets

    Building points for kids??

I got in on the ground floor for the draws in Mt( and a lot of other states) and have 15 moose and sheep points, I don't buy lottery tickets for anything and justify the cost this way for myself. The draws have been good to me over the years and it is sad to see how the cost of applying and...

    Building points for kids??

My 17yo has 1 point for goat and moose, 2 for sheep as a nonresident. He really appears to have the hunting bug and will continue even after I can't climb those mountains. For around $200 a year(and rising in the future I'm sure), is it worth the dismal chance of drawing one of these tags in...

    Early 116 Deer

I did that hunt last year, only my second archery mule deer hunt, so still learning, but very surprised at how nocturnal and hard to spot the deer were that early in the year. Saw some nice ones from a distance, but always seem to be too little time to get to them before they got in the trees in...

    54 3rd season deer

I would think the elk hunters would be higher in elevation than you would and not be a concern, especially if you get snow and rut with later dates. Be interesting for someone to comment on outlook of winter kill this year also as I have a couple friends that are looking hard at this hunt.

    Unit 55 DYI Muzzy

You can glass several deer from the road below Mt. Bellvue, getting to them and taking one with the muzz is a different story, hope you like heights, and double whatever training program your doing now.

    Gunnison Basin 55

I hunted the muzz season this year DIY and was not impressed with the size of bucks I was seeing, granted it was my first time to hunt this season and I had never set foot in the unit before, but I did look at a lot of country with my glass and doubt I saw a buck over mid 170's. Good luck
