Oak Creek burning......again

It looked like it’s on the east side of the 15, I think that’s Fillmore, but not Oak Creek?
Is this the same fire, or is the state starting it’s annual burn all over the place?

That must be a different one. Where is that one? The Oak Creek fire is up Dry Creek which is just east of Oak City. Way West of I15.

Different fires. Started almost exact same time…The Fillmore fire has moved mostly above the bench and headed up over the top of pine creek, north toward chalk creek canyon and south toward the devils armchair. It’s moving fast

The fire in Oak Creek (the Fillmore fire is separate and there were several fires that started within a couple hours of each other) started on private property basically where dry creek and Oak creek canyon meet down at the mouth. The wind was blowing to the north-northeast so it crossed the canyon road early on. By evening it crested the ridge and came down the west slope facing town but it was stopped there. I haven't seen how bad it burned the East facing slope but most of the smoke came from there(Devils Den). The fire also burned along the edges of the road up to the Forest Service campground and they had to dump water on the campground host cabin so it wouldn't burn down.

They do know who started the fire and it was a Millard county local but I won't mention names.

It didn't burn up a lot of habitat and they did a good job of controlling it because there was nothing left to burn after the last few fires. We did get some good photos of the fire from our back porch. Fires here are getting to be as common as fourth of July fireworks and it isn't going to stop until cheat grass is eradicated.

The thing that sucks is that we had a big section of the campground rented for a family reunion that is supposed to start this coming Thursday. So the reunion is getting relocated to Fillmore because there isn't any nice shady place to camp around here for miles other than the canyon. This place is a fugging moonscape.
