Me and my wife had a fun weekend in N Utah. She was my main priority for getting a bird. Maybe next weekend, I hope. She had a couple chances Saturday and didn't connect. After we had the first flock come in, we had a second flock get to 30 yards. My wife had a good solid shot, but refused to take it. She didn't want to take it because she wanted to see me get one with a bow. I had two misses with my bow at 40 yards. One left with out his breast feathers haha.

So anyways, I decided to head back up today and my wife couldn't make it. This time I took the A5. It was a cold morning as they were dead quiet and stayed in the roost for a good hour latter than yesterday. I finally had a flock come in in announced and picked this guy off with a 9" beard. I guess the bright side is now we can concentrate on filling my wife's tag next weekend. Good luck guys, lets see pics and stories of your birds.

Congrats to all of you. Well done. I went out both Sat & Sun morning and evening and seen birds and blow a couple shots with the bow. Will try a time or two more and then pull out the shotgun and hope for a good oppurtunity. Will post up if I make it happen

Thanks! You are more patient than me rman!! I tried Saturday with the bow, then that was enough. :)

Good luck, hope to see some pics!!

I've bagged several turkey in the past and had successful hunts for turkey with each of my boys in the past several years. This one is mine and it would be nice with a bow, but not to proud to pull out the shotgun towards the weeks end!!! Been a blast this far even if I eat tag soup!!!

Dang nice birds Mr bigbull and Mr goofyelk!
Thanks for sharing your successes with us. Nice clean pics too.

Man, they are fun to hunt. And to think we had none, zip, zero turkeys around when I started hunting! We've come a long ways with turkey introductions, planting etc.

I'll second that Robb.

Well done to all you guys. The birds are doing pretty well and it is now a hunt that a guy can plan for.

Way back in the days of my youth, there were exactly zero turkeys around the State.

We've sure come a long way with turkeys in the last several decades!

I'm fairly new to MM and until now I've just been an observer. Here is my general northern Utah turkey. Last year was my first year hunting them. Last year I got really lucky with a 9 7/8 inch tom. Next year I think I might try it with a bow!

My son decided he wanted to go turkey hunting, so he surprised me and bought us both a general season tag. I hadn't even thought of going where I knew I would be having my knee surgery, and wasn't sure how I would be doing. He ended up having to work the first Saturday, so I grabbed my 4 year old grandson and away we went for a ride on the Teryx. We came across this bird and was lucky enough to bag him. My grandson wasn't so sure he liked this as when we got up to the downed bird, he went into the thrashing and flapping mode, and I think it scared him for a bit. I finally got him to get close enough for a photo, and before too long he got into it. I asked him if he was excited, and he said, "We are good hunters and turkey shooters, right Grandpa"?. Once we got back home he was so excited he had to tell everyone. Another great memory with my grandkids!

Wife's first time Turkey hunting. We had a blast called him into twenty-five yards. Had him triple and quadruple gobble for her.

Congrats to everyone!! They are all awesome birds with just as good of stories with them. Thanks for sharing all your successes!!

LAST EDITED ON May-18-14 AT 02:57PM (MST)[p]I was lucky enough to get this bird the other day. My buddy and I were walking back from an unsuccessful set up when we saw this bird just feet off of the dirt road we were walking. He was hunkered under a bit of brush much like a rooster pheasant. I was sure it was a hen until he got up and ran and I could see the beard. I shot him at less than ten feet. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

Nice Job Gals & Guys!

Thought I was the only one not to hunt/have a Camo Benelli 3-1/2" Long Tom Gobbler Killer?

That Gun looks a lot like my Remington Wingmaster 870!

Where you from Ranger1?

Nice Job!
