Lots of deer.. Not too many big deer were seen. Very cold. Most of the deer we saw were in what I call the middle area. The transition from the top and burn area but not all the way west in the flats. Still in the pines and oaks.

Invest in some good glass, it is really wide open. Depending on the weather find the water catchments that the are set up out there.

There is a lot of snow in there this year and it is going to be cold. There will be a lot of road hunters and a lot of people getting stuck.. it will be a tough hunt and yes some elk have already moved out of the pines but there is still some in there. Good Luck

If you want to stay in the Phoenix area most desert areas all hold deer. keep in mind that unit 42 west of Phoenix is not open for Archery until January.

One other consideration is Arizona has 2 types of turkey. Make sure when you put in for what you want to hunt

One other issue specifically to hunting in unit 9 in the late season regardless of weapon is when the snow starts to fly most of the elk head into the park where they know it is safe and have plenty of cover. John
