Idaho unit 54 muzzleloader elk tag

Use your glass and you won't have any trouble finding bulls in 54.....I had the buck tag last year and saw bulls in every drainage I went into.

    Unit 44 early or late?

I agree with BPKHunter.....good bucks can be found in that unit! Good luck! FYI, I would eat my tag before I shot a 170" buck in that unit!

Which half? Both sides of Hill City road have a muzzleloader season. Both sides have deer and can be great hunts.

    44 scouting

My friend has a 44 deer tag and we have been scouting hard for the past month and a half. We have covered most of the unit. I have never had trouble finding deer in the unit before? I have seen several good bulls but not the buck we are looking for. I'm looking for any tips or help and would be...

    unit 45 deer

I grew up in that unit and it will be a great hunt. There are resident deer in the unit and they can be found now. However, if I had the two weeks to hunt, I would try to locate a shooter now and wait until the last week of the season before I chased him much (just check on him from time to time...

Tripod and heads for new scope

Hello everybody, I'm one of the lucky guys who complained enough to my girlfriend over the past couple of years about the price of Swarovski spotting scopes, that she happened to roll into Cabelas and saw the amazing deal and bought one for me for Christmas (I think I better ask her to marry me...

    Idaho sheds!

Everything down in your neck of the woods was still packing last weekend. I have only seen one half rack buck so far. Lots of people and activity in the Boise front and a few decent sheds have been found. They seem to drop much later where I like to go!

    45 DOE HUNT

I don't want to stir the pot again but I have done a ton of thinking about this hunt. I have read most of what was posted on this site. I even debated whether or not I would put in for this hunt because I thought about the does being bred and future impacts to the herd down the road. This hunt...

    Unit Question

There isn't much desert in Unit 43! Unit 46 is almost all desert! All have decent bucks but they are not easy to find and migrate to lower elevations! Good Luck!

Which Idaho deer hunt? Super tag

Kicker has it right! Thats exactly what I would do if I had the tag! I would also not pass up Unit 11 up North! I know of two bucks that are still alive that will top 200"! I wish I had a tag!

    Moscow/8a

I agree with Muley24seven completely! I also went to school up there and chased elk around a lot! There are lots of elk within 30 minutes of school and I found a treestand near a waterhole worked well for me! You can also pattern them pretty well and find main trails from the ag fields. Get to...

    suggestion for IF&G

I say leave it alone! I have never drawn a tag in 23 years (and no I don't put in in Unit 45 every year) and I may never draw a tag. However, I would not be opposed to a longer waiting period in between hunts if that was proposed. It would only help drawing odds for the first 5 years or so, then...

    Unit 52A Elk

There are some big bulls out there! It gets lots of pressure from archery hunters and the bulls get pushed way out in the lava flows! They are there but the country is deceiving and what looks flat really issn't (you'll learn what I mean)! I know of two 380+ bulls that were out there last year...

    Unit 47,54,55

Don't be bitter! I have put in for deer, elk, and antelope every single year since I was 12. I have drawn zero tags!!!! That has been 23 years! This is my year! I can feel it! I put in for the muzzleloader hunt this year!

    Early Feb. sheds

this debate will go on and on and on..... I beleive if you don't pressure the deer and the winter conditions are being favorable like they are in many places this year, you will not harass the deer. I see both sides of the argument and I will not pressure deer but I will not be the last person...

    Today Finds..

doesn't look like much snow around there right now? I think the deer will be fine as long as your not pressuring them out of the area!

    Same buck or same Genetics?

I beleive the older antler is probably a much older relative of the new antler (potentially a father of the new antler).
