OK, Very Good. I suppose it's a nice change that they're not holding onto tag fees for a couple months right? I do have the annual fishing license from last summer family trip so that'll take care of me anyway.
In regards to the above question, I'm not sure. But if that was the case I'd think...
I jumped on their new system and purchased pref pts for my son and I today. I was charged $3 for each pt for both deer and elk only...NOT the full tag fee as we've all been faced with for years prior. Obviously I'm concerned as I'm coming up to the deadline. I was charged the $10 for the new...
As Always, Much appreciated. I had a couple tell me to do a jeep rental as well. Looks like there are quite a few throughout SW CO. Any particular area that's best for a one day DIY gig? Keep it up, THANKS!!!!

Any opinions for my family trip. We're headed to Glenwood for a 2-3 day stay and are headed south to try to hit Ouray, Durango, Telluride area. Any can't miss spots for a family of 4..? Kids are 12 and 13 and are open to most anything. Always appreciate MM guidance. Thank you in advance!

CowTag,
I have the exact CO set-up. Been using 300 FPB on recent deer hunts but opted to try the 350s for upcoming elk gig. I did not find the accuracy I was after even with trying diff volumes of BH. Had a rep at Shields talk me into Power Belts. Bought both the 338 Platnum and 290 or 295...
I was on the bubble of sending for it with 22 NR points and bailed for the hopes of drawing the muzzle tag. Turns out it worked but not without some great advice. Been long time coming as the creep got away from a lot of us. If I had to do over again I'd of sent for the bow tag years back...
My son turned 11 in June. Can I purchase pref pts for him to get him started in upcoming antelope seasons after he becomes 12? Searched WY site and couldn't come up with it very quick.
Thanks in advance for any replies

3blades post is right on. That is my exact set-up and does shoot well. I've decreased the 209 down to 70 gr for my kids youth seasons {recoil} and its solid there as well. Good Luck
I went and looked things over with a leftover bear tag couple years ago in regards to the big 4. Wow, but what I got ought of it from several in the know was hire the right outfitter based on the years it took to draw. I'd have to agree. I also think your pt total has got to be close as well...
Hey 08, In regards to timing, I took a week in 2011 and went in the middle of muzzle season and spent 6 days staying out of the way just looking things over. I was impressed with the rut action then and I wouldn't be afraid of going when u desire, I think theres not many muzzle tags in...
I'd burn your points...I'm one of those guys that have been holding out for the tag and now wished I'd have just went years ago elsewhere. I've asked this same question to others and the most consistent answer is use them in 40 on a guided gig as the public is hard to navigate. as in muzzle or...
Thanks a bunch for all your responses. I'm leaning towards the 48 tag more after we've done some research. I'm not certain that our points will be enough to draw however. Looks like the 46 tag is a bit easier. Again, THANKS

Thanks for the replys,. Buckeye, Did you obtain your doe tags on the leftover list? I'd be inclined to try and get one. I have the HMA info in front of me and appreciate the info on that as well. Considering we'll be there after the opener as well, is it not worth our time to apply in the draw...
My friends drew area 11 bull tags and want me to go along. Its my gear and prior exp that's draws us. However, Always seen goats across the highway on the way to Hanna and Medicine Bow prior. Thoughts r my son and I would burn our lope points in one of the areas listed and try to get a goat or 2...
We had muzzle deer tags there and spent the front part of the week looking hard as high as we could get elevation wise. Tough go. seen very little sign or deer..We both ended up with respectable bucks, however we ended up paying a trespass fee in an essence with a trade for an IA whitetail buck...
2 of us drew this tag a few years back {NR 7 pts}. I hadn't been there prior-took a lot of great advice from MM users as well as prior hunters. When we arrived it was hot/windy and the bucks were going hard horned. Most sightings occurred early am and real late in the pm. Brother missed 2 diff...
Very good-I'm sure glad this post ended on a positive note. When I've called the DOW over questions they've always done a great job. I too will be utilizing my second choice as well.
Thanks for the replys folks. I'm just thinking 20 years of sending is long enough. I'm in need a making a key decision soon. Looks like the 10 tag could be out there quite some time as well. The years fly by don't they??
Thanks again

Ok , gonna need advice from fellow MM users. Did NOT draw in WY w a special draw-looks like everyone was in for all aval tags, maybe prioce inc.? Thought i'd sneak in-ya? Maybe a decent lope tag for later??
Then, I'm at 19 pref pts pre draw for CO [NR]. I'd like to bow hunt so i can indeed...
My 8 year old son says that he is ready for our upcoming youth season. Loves shooting the 22 and 17 however the 20 guage has been to much for him even with light bird shot loads. What i'm trying to do is start a load in my TC Pro-Hunter. Currently i'm using BH 209 [95 gr] with the shockwave...
Whatever u do-use your pts before you end up like me and my brother. We have 19 NR and continue to chase the pt creep game-can't hardly opt out at this time. If we had to do it over we'd be trying to just go every 3 or so years with other states/tags between. Good luck with your decision

Sorry, i shoot a CVA w the bergara barrel for CO and otherwise the a TC Pro-Hunter. Same BH209 powder in both with good results, just spend time going 5 gr up or down helped these 2 rifles AND considerably less clean up. Hope that helped

We shoot 95 grns of BH209 with a Hornady solid 300 and they shoot perfect to 150. After that w/ a peep i tended to wander a bit. Without a great rest and limited wind i'd not. Check mz forum-several very helpful posters there as well.Good Luck!

I spent a week in 41/42/421 on a muzzle deer tag. looked for high and away and encountered only few elk , a bear and my partner seeing a small buck. Qoite few hunters with various tags. What deer we did see were in private down near the hay ground--so changed gears and beat on a few doors with...
Performance wise-I shot my buck last week with 90 gr of BH209 with the 300 gr fpb and had a complete pass-through at 168 yds. 4x3 buck-nothing huge but my biggest so far.
Going blind with a friend that had a ranch to hunt that now turned into NOT unless we find some tresspass cash, so were headed to the BLM and forest. I've done some digging with fellow members on the where to start and have found mixed opinions about hunting high as we can or concentrate on the...
